Technology BENEBION is currently installing MDS NORDION gamma irradiation systems for phytosanitary treatment and microbial load reduction. This technology uses high energy photons from a Cobalt 60 source that penetrate into the product to dislodge electrons, ionizing their atoms and thus sterilizing the product.
This proven technology has been used in many countries around the world for many years and is considered as the
efficient and economical option to reach production goals. It is gamma technology that compared to X-ray or electron beam radiation, best penetrates large and dense product loads allowing for sufficient dose uniformity while treating them on industrial pallets.
In order to monitor treatment quality, BENEBION plans to utilize state of the art alanine pellet dosimetry system, which is suitable for large dose range that will be applied.
